The short version
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and tracks nobody. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to type into a form and send us, and we use it to answer you.
Who this is from
This policy covers the website at gawan.ca, operated by Gawáŋ Technologies. If you have a question about it, email info@gawan.caor call 204-960-4406.
What we collect when you contact us
There are two forms on this site, and between them they ask for:
- The contact form. Your name, your company, your email address and your message.
- Booking a call. Your name, your email address and the day and time you picked.
We use it to reply to you and to arrange the call. We do not sell it, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
What happens to a submission
It is sent to us as an email and a copy is sent to you as confirmation. The website itself stores nothing: there is no database behind these forms. From that point the message lives in our email, the same as if you had written to us directly.
What the site collects on its own
Nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and nothing kept in your browser's storage. Two things happen on every visit anyway, and both are worth stating plainly:
- Server logs. Our host records standard request information, including IP addresses, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
- Fonts. The typefaces load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Nothing else about you is sent, and we receive nothing back.
How we measure the site
We use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google Search: which pages are indexed, what people searched for before they found us, and what is broken. It runs nothing in your browser and sets no cookie. What it reports comes from Google's own record of its search results rather than from your visit.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site.
- Resend delivers the email a form produces.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, as above.
Cloudflare and Resend handle your information on our instructions and for those purposes only. Any of these companies may process or store data outside Canada, which means it can be subject to the laws of the country it sits in.
How long it is kept
The website itself keeps nothing. There is no database behind it, and a form submission is never stored here. It is still kept in three other places, and it is worth being plain about them:
- Your enquiry arrives as email and stays in our inbox for as long as it takes to answer, and afterwards as a record of the work that followed.
- Server logs are kept by our host under its own retention settings, rather than by us.
- Records of email we send are kept by Resend under its own retention settings, in the same way.
If you would rather we did not keep your enquiry, ask us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Canadian federal privacy law, PIPEDA, gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. Email info@gawan.ca and we will answer.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle that, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
What this page does not cover
This policy is about the website. It is not about the systems we look after. Monitoring, managed IT and service agreements involve information about your sites, your systems and sometimes your people, and how that is handled is set out in your agreement with us rather than here.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
